As pickleball continues to grow in Singapore, conversations around noise and shared spaces are becoming more common. Recently, CNA featured a segment on silent pickleballs being trialled by residents in Mountbatten as a way to reduce noise-related disputes.
During the feature, Pickleball Corner Singapore was invited to share the retail perspective on silent pickleballs. Foam-based “quiet balls” can reduce noise by up to 90%, making them suitable for condos, neighbourhood courts, and home practice. However, their softer construction changes spin, speed, and bounce — which is why they are not used for competitive play.
From our sales data, silent pickleballs currently account for around 5% of total pickleball ball sales, while standard plastic pickleballs still represent about 95%. This reflects how most players continue to prioritise realistic gameplay for open play, leagues, and tournaments, while silent balls are mainly used for training and noise-sensitive environments.

Silent pickleballs are a useful training tool — not a replacement. When used in the right context, they help support considerate play while allowing the sport to keep growing responsibly in Singapore.
